Rainy days in the New Forest!

We've woken up this morning to a rainy Saturday in the forest. So, I'm thinking what can our guests do? Should they go out and splash in a few puddles? Yes, we say. But who will have brought their wellies with them in July, expecting sunshine (unlikely, I think!).

Therefore, I've thought of a few places to go and things to do during wet weather in our lovely area. Still some indoor activities available, whilst dodging the showers.

Beaulieu Motor Museum

If cars are your thing, owned by Lord Montagu, the museum has just a fantastic stash load of cars to see from all eras, including one of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's used for the film (it's just "Truly Scrumptious"!).

Take a wander around the spacious grounds into the walled garden and visit Priory House and the ruined monastery - so may be take one of the umbrellas stored in the cottage with you.

Even take a ride on the covered monorail for birds eye views from above the cars.

Longdown Activity Farm

Take the kids to feed the animals including goats, lambs and ducks. It may be a case of dodging the rain to use the outdoor tractors and play area, but take the umbrellas for some cover.

Bucklers Hard

Bucklers Hard village allows you to take a step back in time to when Nelson was commanding the navy. Visit the indoor maritime museum, or take a river cruise and join a living history tour to see how life was lived.

Their cafe is open with limited indoor seating.

After visiting one of the places above, now take some time out to relax with an afternoon tea in one of the many cafes across the forest - all the town and village cafes would love you to pop in and see them: Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Lymington and Milford amongst many others.

Rosie Lea House

Rosie Lea House is a new restaurant that we've yet to try - lunches and cakes that we've indulged in at their cafes in Brockenhurst and at Setley Ridge Garden Centre are divine. Book the new restaurant in advance to sit indoors and luxuriate in their comfortable and relaxed surroundings.

We've only talked about few of the many more places to go when staying at the cottage, some will be a little further away but hopefully our guests will still get out and about during a rainy day.
